Historical Anecdotes: The Tyrant and the Philosopher

Here's a new feature; every week I'll post a particular historical anecdote which I think is amusing/inspiring/just-plain-awesome. This week it's a little of all:

At some point in ancient Greece, a certain philosopher (opinion differs whether it was Anaxagoras or Zeno) was involved in a conspiracy against an evil tyrant. The philosopher was caught and the tyrant told him how he would be tortured until he gave up the other members of the conspiracy. In response, the philosopher bit his own tongue off and threw it in the tyrant's face! Needless to say, the philosopher was promptly executed, without giving up any names.
Here's to team loyalty, direct answers, and sticking it to power in a totally badass way.
